About Std test (urine)
What is the urine STD test?
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) may develop from sexually transmitted infections (STIs). STDs should be treated as they may have serious consequences such as infertility or cancer. Since STDs do not always cause symptoms, a simple blood test can confirm whether you have an STD. STDs are caused by pathogens such as bacteria and viruses and are passed between people through bodily fluids.
Symptoms vary depending on the STD but may include discharge from the vagina or penis, pain when peeing, itchy genitals and blisters, sores or growth around the genitals or anus.
Common STDs include chlamydia, gonorrhoea, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B and C and syphilis.
Why take the test?
This test checks for common STDs: chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and herpes simplex virus I and II. Additionally, this test checks for Mycoplasma genitalium, Ureaplasma species, Trichomonas vaginalis and Gardnerella vaginalis.
