About Gonorrhoea test
What is gonorrhoea?
Gonorrhoea is the second most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) after chlamydia in the UK. It is caused by a bacterial infection which can affect both men and women. Symptoms include discharge and pain during urination and women may also experience abdominal pains and bleeding between periods. Gonorrhoea must be diagnosed and treated to prevent the development of long-term health problems, such as pelvic inflammatory disease in women or infertility in men.
Why take the test?
This test looks for the presence of gonorrhoea bacteria in the urine and can help to diagnose a gonorrhoea infection.
