What is calcium?
Calcium is an essential mineral for healthy bodily functions. Along with being the primary component of bones, it is involved in other processes including blood clotting, muscle contraction and nerve damage response. If calcium levels in the blood become too low, calcium is released from the bones to restore normal levels. If calcium levels are too high, it is either stored in the bones or excreted in stool and urine.
Abnormal calcium levels in the urine can indicate kidney stones/disease, parathyroid disease or bone health issues.
