What is Candida Antibodies
Candida is a genus of yeasts that are often found in the gut, mouth, throat, vagina or skin of humans. Certain species of candida, typically candida albicans can become pathogenic and grow excessively, causing the disease Candidiasis.
Candidiasis is commonly referred to by several different names depending on the site of infection; thrush (mouth or throat), yeast infection (vagina) or invasive candidiasis if candida enters the bloodstream or internal organs.
Why take the test?
This test detects the level of candida antibodies in the blood, including IgG, IgM and IgA. It is used to detect an immune response to candida and aid with the diagnosis of candidiasis.
