What is the QuantiFERON-TB Gold test?
QuantiFERON-TB Gold is a blood test used to help detect the presence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis). M. tuberculosis is the bacterium responsible for causing tuberculosis.
Tuberculosis primarily affects the lungs but can spread to the kidneys, lungs and brain. It is spread to other people through coughing and sneezing. Symptoms include a bad cough, coughing up blood, fatigue, fever and weight loss.

This test detects the presence of M. tuberculosis in the blood and can be used to help diagnose tuberculosis.
