About Toxocara antibodies
What is Toxocara?
Toxocara is a parasitic roundworm that lives in the intestines of dogs and cats. Humans may become infected from soil contaminated with eggs from animal faeces causing toxocariasis.
Some infected people may not show symptoms, but it may cause problems with vision and internal organs such as the liver.
Toxocara antibodies are produced by the body’s immune system to help fight infection against the roundworm.
