About Strongyloides antibodies
What is Strongyloides?
Strongyloides is a parasitic nematode worm which can colonise mammalian small intestines. In humans, Strongyloides causes the disease Strongyloidiasis which typically presents with symptoms including skin problems, diarrhoea, weight loss and abdominal pain.
Why take the test?
This test screens for antibodies produced in response to the nematode Strongyloides. It is used to diagnose Strongyloidiasis.
