About Silver
What is silver?
Silver is a rare element found in the natural environment. Silver is used to make jewellery, silverware, and electronics. Exposure from silver is possible through contaminated water and food, as well as through jewellery making and medicines.
Over-exposure to ingestion of silver causes argyria, a condition characterised by the skin appearing grey or blue. Inhalation of silver dust can cause breathing problems.
Why take the test?
This test measures the amount of silver in the urine and can be used to detect and monitor silver exposure.
