What is Mycoplasma genitalium?
Mycoplasma genitalium (M. genitalium) is a bacterium that causes a sexually transmitted infection. It affects both males and females, infecting the urinary and genital tracts. Symptoms in males include pain urinating and discharge whilst females may experience vaginal discharge, bleeding between periods and bleeding after sex.

This test detects the presence of M. genitalium DNA in the blood and can be used to help diagnose an infection with this bacterium.
