About Lymphocytes subsets
What are lymphocyte subsets?
Lymphocytes are immune cells which protect the body from harmful substances and organisms. Lymphocytes are found in the lymph where their name derives from and different subsets have specific, interconnected roles in the proper function of the immune system.
Lymphocyte subsets include T-cells, B-cells and natural killer cells (NK cells). The numbers and ratios of these different cells are affected by different diseases and immune health, so this test can be used to diagnose and monitor conditions affecting the immune system.
Why take the test?
This test provides a lymphocyte count and ratios of different lymphocyte subsets. It can indicate recent immune activity or diagnose conditions negatively affecting lymphocyte production and function.
