What is listeria?
Listeria is a genus of bacteria which cause the infection listeriosis. The type of listeria bacteria typically responsible for listeriosis is Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes). An infection is usually caused by eating food containing listeria bacteria such as unpasteurised milk.
