About Legionella antigen (urine)
What is legionella?
Legionella are harmful bacteria which cause Legionnaires disease in humans. Legionnaires disease is a form of pneumonia and is contracted from inhaling the vapour of infected water. Legionella do not spread from person-to-person but live in household water supplies or cooling towers in industrial cooling systems. Symptoms of Legionnaires disease include fever, chills, coughs or aches and pains. Pneumonia is typically diagnosed via chest x-ray.
Why take the test?
