About Homocysteine
What is homocysteine?
Homocysteine is an amino acid, one of the essential building blocks for all proteins in the body. High levels of homocysteine in the blood are associated with an increased risk of heart disease. The most common source of homocysteine is eating meat, blood levels can be lowered by increased intake of vitamin B12 and folic acid.
