About Hexamethylene diamine (hda)

What is hexamethylenediamine?

Hexamethylenediamine (HDA) is produced by the body after exposure to hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) and is a useful marker of HDI exposure. Diisocyanates are used in the production of polymers and can pose a risk to health upon inhalation, ingestion or skin contact. They can cause irritation of mucous membranes, asthma and damage to the liver and kidneys.

Why take the test?

This test measures the level of HDA and can be used to assess the exposure to diisocyanates.
