What is the Fungitell β-d-Glucan test?
The Fungitell assay is a method of testing for an immune response to β-d-Glucan, a component of many invasive fungal species. Fungal infections are a significant risk to individuals with weakened immune systems, such as those on immunosuppressants. β-d-Glucan has been shown as an important marker for invasive fungal infection and can often be detected before symptoms arise, leading to increased survival through early diagnosis. Not all invasive fungal species have β-d-Glucan, so this test is not comprehensive.
