About Echinococcus antibodies (hydatid)
What is echinococcus?
Echinococcus is a genus of parasitic tapeworm which typically infect animals such as dogs or sheep. In humans, infection is acquired by consuming food or water contaminated with egg-containing faeces from an infected animal, causing the disease echinococcosis. Echinococcosis presents in different forms depending on the location and size of the cyst formed. Symptoms of echinococcosis vary depending on the exact disease but can go unnoticed for months or years.
Why take the test?
