About Cysticercosis serology

What is cysticercosis?

Cysticercosis is a tissue infection caused by the larval cysts of parasitic tapeworm Taenia solium. It is acquired by consuming food contaminated with egg-containing faeces from an infected human. Symptoms of cysticercosis can include lumps (cysts) in muscle tissue, disturbed vision from cysts in the eye or neurocysticercosis causing seizures, headaches and difficulty balancing. Neurocysticercosis can be fatal if untreated.
