About Cyclic amp

What is cyclic AMP?

Cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) is an intracellular signalling molecule involved in the regulation of sugar and fat metabolism. The level of cAMP in urine can be used as an indicator of parathyroid functionality. Increased cAMP in urine can indicate hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D deficiency or hypercalcemia of malignancy.

Why take the test?

This test measures the amount of cAMP in the urine. It is typically used to indicate parathyroid activity and diagnose hyperparathyroidism.
