About Cold agglutinin
What is cold agglutinin disease?
Antibodies are proteins typically produced by the immune system to target and protect against harmful entities. In some cases, the immune system can malfunction, producing antibodies which target and attack the body’s own cells. Disorders caused by this process are called autoimmune diseases. Cold agglutinin disease is an autoimmune condition where the immune system produces antibodies that target the body’s red blood cells when exposed to cold temperatures. Symptoms associated with cold agglutinin disease include dizziness, headaches, cold extremities, chest pains.
