About Asymmetric dimethylarginine (adma)

What is asymmetric dimethylarginine?

Asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) is a chemical synthesised by the body. It inhibits the production of nitric oxide which regulates blood pressure and contributes to the health of blood vessels. Elevated levels of AMDA are associated with a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease and heart failure.

Why take this test?

This test measures the level of ADMA in the blood and can be used to help check the health of your blood vessels and your risk of cardiovascular disease.
