About Arsenic blood test
What is arsenic?
Arsenic is a heavy metal found in the natural environment. Although uncommon in toxic amounts in the natural environment, high levels are sometimes found in groundwater, particularly as a result of industries such as mining. Exposure to arsenic is most common through contaminated water or food. Acute symptoms of arsenic poisoning include abdominal pains, vomiting and diarrhoea. Long-term effects typically result in skin problems including skin cancers. Acute poisoning must be detected quickly for appropriate treatment.
Why take the test?
This test measures the level of arsenic in your blood and can be used to help detect and monitor exposure to arsenic.
