What is activated protein C?
Activated protein C (APC) is a protein produced by the body to reduce clotting. APC resistance is a disorder where the body does not respond properly to APC which, as a result, increases the body’s risk of clotting. The causes of APC resistance may be genetic or acquired.
Blood clots can occur in different parts of the body such as in veins (venous thromboembolism) and must be detected early for treatment.
Why take the test?
This test screens for APC resistance by measuring the body’s clotting ability and is useful to determine whether you have an increased risk of developing a blood clot.

For COVID-19 Fit to Fly tests you must attend one of our partner clinics for our trained collection officers to take your sample. You will then have the results emailed to you.
