About Pregnancy test (blood)
What is a pregnancy test?
The pregnancy test detects a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) that is only released during pregnancy. hCG is produced by the cells that form the placenta after fertilisation of an egg and the level of hCG increases throughout the beginning of pregnancy.
Why take this test?
This test measures the level of hCG in the blood and can be used to detect confirm pregnancy 11 days after fertilisation.
