What is vitamin E?

Vitamin E refers to a group of fat-soluble tocopherols and tocotrienols. It has antioxidant properties and is important for skin, eyes, nerves, muscles and the immune system. Sources of vitamin E include oils, cereal grains, nuts and seeds. Vitamin E deficiency can be caused by problems with nutrient absorption in the digestive tract. Symptoms can include muscle problems including weakness and unsteady motor control and vision problems. Excess vitamin E can result in diarrhoea, nausea and fatigue.

Why take the test?

This test measures the level of vitamin E in the blood. It is used to diagnose vitamin E deficiency, generally due to poor nutrient absorption. It can also diagnose excess vitamin E resulting from taking high doses of supplements.

Take your test and post

Follow our simple instructions to take your sample and post back the enclosed prepaid envelope to our accredited lab for processing. We also offer home or workplace visits by a qualified nurse. For COVID-19 Fit to Fly tests you must attend one of our partner clinics for our trained collection officers to take your sample. You will then have the results emailed to you.
