About Vitamin b2 (riboflavin)
What is vitamin B2?
Vitamin B2 or riboflavin is a water-soluble vitamin that is important for breaking down and using energy from food. Vitamin B2 is also important for maintaining the health of the liver, nerves, muscles and skin. High levels are found in whole grains, green leafy vegetables, lean meats, dairy products and eggs. Vitamin B2 must be consumed daily since it is not stored by the body. Symptoms of a vitamin B2 deficiency include cracked lips, inflammation of the mouth and tongue and mouth curlers.
Why take the test?
This test measures the level of vitamin B2 in the blood and can be used to detect a vitamin B2 deficiency.
